The development of China's shipping industry

China's shipbuilding industry developed slowly in modern times. From 1865 to 1866, the Qing government successively established the Jiangnan Manufacturing General Bureau and Fuzhou Shipbuilding Bureau, and built warships such as "Baomin", "Jianwei" and "Pinghai" and passenger and cargo ships on the Yangtze River such as "Jiangxin" and "Jianghua".

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the shipbuilding industry has made great progress. In the 1950s, a number of coastal passenger and cargo ships, cargo ships and oil tankers were built. Since the 1960s, China's shipbuilding capacity has improved rapidly. It has built multi-type ocean transport vessels, Yangtze River transport vessels, offshore oil development vessels, oceanographic survey vessels, military vessels and maritime surveillance vessels. The tonnage of large ocean vessels has reached over 300,000 deadweight tons. With the exception of a few special vessels, China has been able to design and manufacture all kinds of military and civilian vessels.

The share of China's shipbuilding in the world shipbuilding market has increased rapidly. In 2008 and 2009, China's shipbuilding industry has further improved its position in the international market. In 2008, China's shipbuilding completion volume, new ship orders and hand-held ship orders accounted for 29.5%, 37.7% and 35.5% of the world market share respectively. Compared to the same period in 2007, completions and hand orders increased 6.5% and 2.5%, respectively; China's shipbuilding completions and hand-held ship orders have maintained rapid growth for six consecutive years, and the three shipbuilding indicators have comprehensively surpassed Japan to become the second shipbuilding country in the world. In 2009, China's shipbuilding completions, new ship orders and hand-held ship orders accounted for 34.8%, 61.6% and 38.5% of the world shipbuilding market, respectively. They were 5.3%, 23.9% and 3% higher than those at the end of 2008. By the end of 2009, China ranked first in the world in terms of annual new ship orders; In terms of the share of hand-held orders at the end of 2009, China had become the world's largest; By the end of 2009, China was second in the world in terms of shipbuilding completions; China has surpassed Japan in two of the three shipbuilding indicators, making it the world's largest shipbuilding nation.

It can be seen from the change of the share of China's shipbuilding industry in the world shipbuilding market in the past decade that the proportion of China's shipbuilding industry in the global market is obviously rising, and China has become one of the important shipbuilding centers in the world. The trend of industrial transfer of international manufacturing industry is the biggest opportunity for the development of China's shipbuilding industry. During the "11th Five-Year Plan" period, China's shipbuilding industry will form a strong challenge to the status of Korea and Japan. However, the backward design ability and the backward development of supporting industries will be the main bottleneck restricting the development of the industry. In the short term, the booming international and domestic water transportation market provides a strong guarantee for the industry's growth, while the continued high oil prices and the rising prices of raw materials such as steel constitute the main pressure on the industry's operation. The trend of international industrial transfer has presented the huge opportunities of shipbuilding industry to Chinese enterprises. However, in the fierce market competition environment, how to avoid various risks and how to grasp the opportunities is a crucial issue with the destiny of the development of enterprises.

One after another unpredictable risks in 2008, in September, the American financial crisis, like a beast of flood, is rapidly sweeping the globe, global financial crisis is a comprehensive outbreak, affected by the American financial crisis small and medium-sized enterprises in our country face collapse one after another, the import and export of products, automobile industry, textile industry are badly hit by the American financial crisis. China's shipping industry, a pillar of "made in China", is also facing a severe winter of financial storms.

Compared with developed countries, our ship matching localization rate is less than 50%, the development prospect is broad. The localization rate of ship supporting facilities in developed countries has reached more than 90%. Although China has become the largest shipbuilding country in the world, the localization rate of ship supporting facilities is less than 50% at present. According to the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan for the Development of Ship Supporting Industries" and the "Plan for the Adjustment and Revitalization of Ship Industry", the development goals are as follows: By 2015, the shipping rate of locally produced Marine equipment should reach more than 80%, and the development prospect of Chinese ship supporting industry is broad.

From the ship matching occupies the cost of the ship, our ship matching industry development space is great. Under normal circumstances, the cost of supporting equipment accounts for 30-40% of the total ship price, but at present, China has become the largest shipbuilding country in the world, with a huge annual output value of ships. Taking 2009 as an example, the total output value of domestic ships has reached 548.4 billion yuan, based on the calculation that the cost of supporting equipment accounts for 35% of the total ship price. The production value of our country's ship's matching industry should be in about 191.94 billion yuan, but in fact, in 2009 our country's ship's matching industry output value is 62 billion yuan only, so the development space of our country's ship's matching industry is great.
